For the Forgotten

This page is for everyone, but it's here especially for people who have relatives with Alzheimer's Disease. We have to remember each other.

The poetry is mostly for that -- for the sake of remembering.

Alzheimer's Message

I have a message from your little boy; The one you said you remember, Whose name is just like mine. We thought that was a funny coincidence, And we laughed together, about it. We laughed, and I forgot to tell you He gave me a message for you. I have a message from your little boy; Do you remember him now, as you did A minute ago? You do? Yes, I know -- his name is just the same As mine! He is small, yes, and I am big. He gave me a message for you. I have a message from your little boy; Those are, indeed, fine flowers, but If you eat them, there won't be any For others to smell, or even taste. Do you have a little boy Whose name is similar to mine? He gave me a message for you. I have a message from your little boy; He's right nearby, and he remembers you. He's right nearby, and he -- I like the buttons on the telephone, too; You used to show me how to take them off And put them back. Now, you just take them off. He gave me a message for you. I have a message from your little boy; He misses you; he remembers your strong hand Stretched out to help him cross the road; Yes, his name is quite like mine. He remembers, he says, that you Forgot to wave goodbye; He gave me that message for you. I have a message from your little boy; That when I leave today, will you please Wave goodbye, And I will wave goodbye To him. He said to tell you that he loves you. He gave me that message for you. I have a message from your little boy; And I think we have a road to cross... A one-way street, where flowers grow forever...
